How to use a Java skin on Minecraft Bedrock

Java and Bedrock use the same classic skin shape - a 64x64 PNG - so a normal Java skin works on Bedrock as-is. You just import the file instead of a launcher doing it for you.

  1. Get the Java skin as a PNG Download the skin's 64x64 PNG (from its source, or grab your own from the Java profile). The flat texture is all Bedrock needs.
  2. Import it on Bedrock Open the Dressing Room → Classic Skins → Choose New Skin, pick the PNG, and select Steve (square) or Alex (slim) to match the original arms.
  3. Equip Tap Equip. The skin looks identical to how it did on Java.
  4. Know what does not carry over Only the flat texture moves. A Java skin with a custom cape, HD-only detail or a mod's 3D geometry loses those parts - Bedrock reads the PNG, not the Java extras.
For 3D/geometry skins on Bedrock, that is the 4D route instead - see the 4D install guide.
