Minecraft skin not showing on Bedrock - how to fix

Nearly every "my skin will not show" case is one of five things. Check them in this order - cheapest first - before reinstalling anything.

  1. Are you in third person? In first person you cannot see your own body. Press the view key (or the on-screen view button on mobile) to look at yourself. It is the most common cause.
  2. Did you tap Equip, not just import? Importing a skin only adds it to Classic Skins. Open the Dressing Room → Classic Skins, tap the skin, and tap Equip.
  3. Is the PNG a valid size? Bedrock accepts a 64x64 skin (or 64x32 legacy, 128x128 HD). A photo, a screenshot, or a wrongly-sized PNG imports but shows the default Steve/Alex.
  4. Are you on a server that forces skins? Some servers replace every player skin with their own. Check in a single-player world - if the skin shows there, the server is overriding it and nothing is wrong with your skin.
  5. Is it a 4D skin looking flat? That is a different problem: the official app draws custom geometry flat. Follow the 4D install guide to make the 3D parts render.
